Wells Fargo: using a power of attorney

Bank Last verified 2026-10-17

Wells Fargo's clearest public POA explanation sits on its military 'Prepare for deployment' page, but the text covers any Wells Fargo account.

Do they accept a POA?

  • Verified Wells Fargo accepts either its own Wells Fargo Power of Attorney form (applies only to the Wells Fargo accounts listed on it) or a POA prepared and signed elsewhere. It reviews an outside POA to see if it was properly executed under governing state law and whether the agent has authority for the requested transaction. official source ↗

Forms & documents

  • Verified Wells Fargo's own POA form is available at any Wells Fargo banking location (not published online). official source ↗
  • Verified For personal loans only: Wells Fargo's Personal Lending Group packet asks for a POA Submission Cover Sheet, a notarized Attorney-in-Fact Affidavit, a copy of the POA, and (only if the principal is incapacitated) proof of the agent's SSN and name/address/date of birth. official source ↗

How to submit

  • Verified The agent must visit a Wells Fargo banking location and show valid photo ID (e.g. unexpired driver's license or state ID, military ID, or passport). Wells Fargo keeps a copy of the POA and sets up an agent profile; until that's done it won't act on the agent's requests. official source ↗
  • Verified Personal loans: the packet can go by mail (Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., 2800 South Price Road, Bld. D, 3rd Floor, Chandler, AZ 85286), email ([email protected]), a branch, or fax (1-877-722-5232). Questions: 1-877-592-7298. official source ↗
